The British writer Cyril Connolly famously said,

Cyril Connolly

"There is no more somber enemy of good art than the pram in the hall."

He believed that kids made the artistic life impossible and many people since then have believed him.

Being an artist is hard. Being a parent is hard. Being both together is even harder. Yet we believe it's tragic and mistaken to use one of these as an excuse or as an enemy for the other. More important, we believe it's unnecessary.

Thus,we founded Pram in the Hall Foundation, a 501(c)(3) based in Austin Texas. Starting in 2017, we will be opening applications for our first cohort of Pram in the Hall Fellows--awarding grants for aspiring writers and artists who could use a little help getting the quiet time needed to do their work. We know you're busy. We know you have great ideas. We know that even just a few hours of extra help can make a huge difference. That's what we're here for.
